Applications are invited for the post of sales manager in a biotechnology company specialising in cell biology and cell culture technology. The successful applicant will be responsible for marketing and sale of cell-based services and products, on which the company’s commercial business is based, and should preferably have a life science background.
The appointment is full-time and, in addition to a competitive salary, you will receive 25 days plus statutory holidays and entry into the company pension scheme. A probationary period of 6 months will apply.
The sales manager will present leading-edge cell products and analytical services to specialists across a range of industry sectors, from the pharmaceutical industry to academia. The appointee will liaise with both the scientific team and the company’s executive management to deliver customer needs, adopting customised solutions where necessary, and will be incentivised to grow commercial sales rapidly and significantly around a unique market-ready product range.
The appointee should be able to demonstrate or acquire expertise in the following:
- Product sales and marketing
- Communication of technical specifications effectively to consumers
- Understanding market drivers and customer needs, identifying high quality leads
- Development and maintenance of client data base
- Strategic planning, ensuring opportunities and communications are maximised
- Attending trade shows and international marketing events
- Updating digital platforms, including website and social networks
The job specification requires sales and marketing knowledge, as well as a technical understanding of the life sciences. Preferably, the applicant shall have experience in a commercial scientific environment.
The post requires expertise and background commensurate with qualification to Bachelor degree level or equivalent.
