These assays are designed to measure events such as apoptosis, cytotoxicity and proliferation. A wide range of products will be available, combining different cell types from a range of species.  Assays will focus on major human cancers, with initial assays based on breast and prostate cell cultures. Both primary cells and tumour cell lines will be available, so that direct comparisons can be made of the effects of drug treatment on normal versus tumour cell populations in a simple and reproducible manner.

The fluorescent reporter system used in the assays conveys a high degree of sensitivity to the system, and allows low levels of detection. The homogeneous – add and read – assay format is designed to be convenient and easy to use, eliminating the need for a separate cell lysis step in the assay protocol. Assays are offered with fluorescence intensity readout, to be compatible with standard laboratory platereader equipment.
